Bryce Menzies and Toyo Tires took the overall win at the SCORE Baja 400 desert race, making it three straight since 2021. This marks another milestone victory for Menzies after winning the Baja 500 and NORRA Mexican 1000 Race earlier this year. Team Menzies also took third place overall on the day, with Andy McMillin securing a place on the podium.
Adding to the incredible weekend for Team Toyo, Gustavo Vildósola Sr. secured yet another victory in the Trophy Truck Legends Class over the weekend. Meanwhile, Jason McNeil delivered a spectacular performance, claiming the top spot in the Trophy Truck Spec class. The outstanding success of Toyo Tires’ drivers continues to shine, as they maintain their commanding lead in championship points across all three Trophy Truck categories this season. With this remarkable achievement, each driver is now poised to begin the upcoming SCORE Baja 1000 race in November from the coveted pole position, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown.
To recap his overall win, Menzies started in the 6th position and drove his #7 Red Bull / Toyo Tires / KMC Wheels AWD Mason Motorsports Trophy Truck. Gaining positions throughout the first half of the race, Menzies began to lead the pack as they charged through the challenging 385-mile course in Baja California, Mexico. After losing his truck’s front wheel drive around race mile 230, Menzies relied on his seasoned experience to hold off a field of talented drivers. Showcasing an immense level of determination and fortitude throughout the latter half of the race, Menzies clocked in a winning drive with an official time of 7 hours, 53 minutes, and 54 seconds. He relied on the championship-winning Toyo Open Country® M/T-R tires to get him to the finish line.
“Coming away with the overall victory and two trucks on the podium for Menzies Motorsports at the Baja 400 is amazing!” said Bryce Menzies. “This gives us a great advantage going into the Baja 1000.”
“This was an incredible race and result for Bryce and Team Toyo,” said Stan Chen, sr. manager, events, sponsorships and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “Finishing on top of the podium in the penultimate race in the SCORE International series is a great accomplishment, setting up for a much-anticipated Baja 1000. To have Bryce win the third straight Baja 400 on our resilient tires is something we are extremely proud of and speaks to the durability and consistency of our race product.”
In addition to Bryce Menzies third straight SCORE Baja 400 win (2021, 2022, 2023), Team Toyo drivers have also won the SCORE Baja 500 five times: Robby Gordon (2013), Tavo Vildósola (2016), Andy McMillin (2017 and 2019), and Bryce Menzies (2023); and the SCORE Baja 1000 four times: Robby Gordon (2006), BJ Baldwin (2012 and 2013), and Alan Ampudia in (2019). Menzies has also won the following races with Toyo Tires: the SCORE San Felipe 250 (2021), the NORRA Mexican 1000 (2022 and 2023), the BITD Vegas to Reno (2020), and the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge at King of the Hammers (2020 and 2021).
