Team Falken’s Off Road racing teams capped off an eventful weekend with podium finishes on both coasts. Jon Schaefer took first in the 4600 Class at the ULTRA4 Racing Series event in Kentucky, while Jesse Oliver claimed second in the 4500 Class at the same event. On the West Coast, Justin Hall earned second in the 4500 Class at the 2021 NorCal Rock Racing Wild West Shootout Round 1.
Schaefer of RPM Extreme Racing won his class in the ULTRA4 Battle of the Bluegrass at the Rush Off Road Park in Rush, KY, the first race of the East Series. The long-time Team Falken driver looked strong all weekend, qualifying first and finished second overall in a race that combined vehicles from the 4500, 4600 and 4800 Classes.
“There was some very sloppy mud out there,” Schaefer declared. “Best thing was that my tires got on top of the mud and I just passed everyone, including some tough competitors in other classes, to finish second overall and first in my 4600 Class. It was pretty incredible, especially since these were the same Wildpeak M/T tires I ran at King of the Hammers.”
Oliver of Oliver Racing took second in his 4500 Class at ULTRA4’s Rush event. “The mud was so bad, I must have had 100 pounds of it on my hood by race end,” he said. “I had some issues, but was determined to overcome them and pushed hard to second place. My Falken Wildpeak M/T tires had the grip I needed to handle that muck for a strong finish.”
West of the Mississippi, Falken driver Justin Hall spent his weekend in Fernley, Nevada where he earned second place at NorCal Rock Racing’s first event of the season. Despite experiencing a number of mechanical issues, Hall found a way to lead his Falken-liveried vehicle to the podium in the series’ 4500 Class. “I missed the first qualifying heat completely, but came back strong in the second heat, grabbing second overall in qualifying,” Hall noted.
“I was highly confident that my Wildpeak M/T tires would help me dominate the race, but I suffered a few more mechanical problems enroute to the finish,” Hall continued. “However, I was not to be denied, and just drove through the trouble to finish second. A big shout-out to Falken for their incredible support throughout the weekend. I never had a tire issue.”
“This was a great race weekend, showcasing how well the Falken Wildpeak M/T tires can perform in different conditions on both East and West Coast series,” said Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Off-Road and Light Truck Supervisor. “We are very proud of our drivers and how well they represent the Falken Tires brand, both this past weekend and throughout the season. Our drivers helped showcase the durability, strength, and longevity the Wildpeak M/Ts have when pitted against harsh conditions.”
Round 3 of ULTRA4 Racing’s 2021 West Coast series will take place May 14-15, at the Lasernut Western #2 in San Felipe, Mexico, the second time teams will compete at this facility. The North Series will begin its season in Broadview, Montana, June 10th.
