No Sound Like Old School
The Honda RA300 was fitted out with a 48-valve V12 engine, mounting the famous ‘waterfall’ exhaust system, although others suggested that the system reminded them of as a ‘ball of snakes’. The engine’s original configuration was introduced in 1966 with advent of the RA273 at the 1966 Italian Grand Prix. The engine was a bit heavy, although it was reputed to be torquey enough to spin the rear tires at 100 mph in third. Its cylinder dimensions were 78.0 x 52.2 mm, at a displacement of 2,993.17 cc, with a target BHP of 400-440, at 12,000 rpm.
